our leadership

Jesus Christ is the ultimate leader of Grace (Ephesians 5:15-16).  Also, as the New Testament prescribes for church leadership, Grace is overseen by a team of elder-pastors  (Titus 1:7, Acts 14:23, 20:17).  We also have deacons who serve as a church-wide care team and many ministry directors who lead the ministries at Grace.

  • Michael Goacher

    lead Pastor

What is your role at GCC?

My role as Lead Pastor is to work with our team of elder-pastors and lead our church into fulfilling the mission God has called us to: loving God and loving people through truth, discipleship and service.  I preach in worship services and work to align the ministries of the church, care for the flock, and equip others to fulfill the role God has prepared for them.  I've been serving at Grace since 2004.

    Family and fun:

I have a beautiful wife Chelsy, who is my best friend and the love of my life.  In May of 2015, we welcomed our son Gabriel into the world and then in December 2016 we welcomed our daughter Everly!  At this busy stage in life, for fun and recreation we like to take our little ones somewhere out in the world. And when we can, we try to take naps--we've discovered naps are one of the greatest gifts God has given to mankind.

    Education and ministry experience:

Originally I studied Speech Communication at the University of Texas at Austin.  Shortly after graduation, I worked in an urban ministry in Waco, Texas.  For formal Biblical and theological training, I graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary with a Master of Arts in Christian Education.  I led a single adult ministry in Austin before moving to California to serve at Grace.  In recent years I've been working on a doctor of ministry with a focus on discipleship through Talbot School of Theology.

    Favorite books:

Longtime favorites include Blackaby's "Experiencing God," John Piper's "Desiring God," Tozer's "The Pursuit of God," and J.I. Packer's "Knowing God".
